Bio

Peter Lewis is a Palo Alto-based writer and editor whose specialty is technology and science. From 1982 to 1996 and from 1997 to 2000 he was a reporter, editor, columnist and Senior Writer for The New York Times, where he served as Assistant Science Editor, Assistant Financial Editor, and Deputy Travel Editor. He was the newspaper’s first Technology Editor and he helped create both the nytimes.com website and the Circuits technology section. He was the first reporter for a major newspaper to cover the emerging Internet full time.

In 2000 Lewis joined Fortune Magazine as Senior Editor and columnist, covering consumer technologies. He has been a regular contributor and blogger for cnnmoney.com, and has also contributed stories to Money Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Conde Nast Portfolio, Fast Company, and Outside. He has contributed regular commentary on technology for WQXR Radio on New York. Recently named a 2009-10 Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford, Lewis is a graduate of Drake University and studied physics and journalism at the University of Kansas.
